Book Your SessionWhat to Expect
Axe throwing at Adventure Instructor is a proper skills session, not a fairground activity. The session begins with a thorough safety briefing — how to handle the axe safely, range protocols, and what to do (and not do) at all times. Safety is established before any throwing takes place, and it underpins everything that follows.
Instruction covers grip, stance, the mechanics of a full rotation throw, and how to adjust for distance. Because sessions are 1-2-1, the coaching is entirely personalised — if your release is slightly off, or your follow-through is inconsistent, there is time to identify and correct it. By the end of a session, most people achieve consistent, satisfying throws that actually stick.
Sessions take place at Owl Lodge, Lacock — a private, purpose-suitable outdoor space. All equipment, including throwing axes, is provided. You will need nothing except suitable outdoor clothing.
Who It Suits
Axe throwing suits adults looking for an unusual, hands-on activity that rewards genuine technique. It appeals to people who want something more engaging than a passive experience — there is a real skill to develop, and achieving a clean, accurate throw is genuinely satisfying. No prior experience is required. All sessions are 1-2-1 only; group sessions are not available. This is intentional — the 1-2-1 format ensures proper safety supervision and means instruction is focused entirely on you.

Message on WhatsAppFrequently Asked Questions
Is axe throwing safe?
Yes — when taught properly in a controlled environment. Axe throwing at Adventure Instructor is not a fairground sideshow; it is a proper skills session with a structured safety briefing, supervised practice, and correct technique taught from the first throw. All sessions take place in a dedicated, safe throwing area at Owl Lodge.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, closed-toe footwear and clothing you can move freely in. There are no specialist clothing requirements. Eye and ear protection are not required for axe throwing, but appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather is recommended — sessions are held outdoors.
Do I need any experience?
No experience is required at all. Most people who book have never thrown an axe before. The session starts with grip, stance, and the mechanics of a safe throw before any axes leave hands. By the end of a session, most participants are landing consistent, satisfying throws.
How long is a session?
A typical introductory axe throwing session runs around two hours, covering safety, technique, and plenty of throwing practice. Longer sessions can be arranged. Session length is discussed when you book.
Can I bring a friend along to watch or join in?
Sessions are 1-2-1 only. This is not just a preference — it is an insurance and safety requirement. Only the booked participant and the instructor are present during the session. Group bookings, spectators, and additional participants cannot be accommodated. If two people want to experience axe throwing, each would need to book their own separate session.
