Your session starts with a safety briefing and an introduction to the equipment. You will learn how to hold and draw the bow correctly, how to anchor consistently, and how to release cleanly. All equipment is provided — bow, arrows, arm guard, and finger tab. Turn up in comfortable clothing and you are ready.
Because instruction is entirely 1-2-1, the session is shaped by your progress. If something is not quite working, there is time to slow down, diagnose what is happening, and adjust. There is no pressure to perform at pace. Beginners often find that the calm, focused nature of a personal archery session is very different from what they expected — and considerably more satisfying.
Sessions are held at Owl Lodge, Lacock — a private outdoor range. You will have the space and undivided attention you need to make genuine progress in a single session.

Archery instruction suits adults at any stage — complete beginners who have never held a bow, people who tried archery years ago and want to revisit it properly, and those who have shot recreationally and want structured coaching to improve their consistency. No prior experience is needed, and the 1-2-1 format means the session is never pitched above or below your level. Sessions take place at Owl Lodge, Lacock, Wiltshire — a private, purpose-suitable outdoor space with easy road access and parking.

Do I need any experience to try archery?
No experience is needed at all. Sessions start with the complete basics — how to stand, how to hold the bow, and how to draw and release safely. As a 1-2-1 session, you will receive full attention from the first arrow to the last.
Is all equipment provided?
Yes. Bows, arrows, arm guards, finger tabs, and all safety equipment are provided. You do not need to own or bring any archery equipment. Just arrive in comfortable clothing with your sleeves able to be rolled to the elbow.
Is archery available indoors or outdoors?
Sessions are conducted outdoors at Owl Lodge, Lacock. This means sessions are weather-dependent — light rain is no barrier, but sessions may need to be rescheduled in severe conditions. This will be discussed when you book.
How long does a session last?
A typical introductory archery session runs around two hours, covering safety, technique, and a substantial amount of shooting practice. Session length is discussed when you book and can be adjusted to your goals.
Is archery suitable for complete beginners?
Absolutely. The majority of people who book are complete beginners. The 1-2-1 format means instruction is paced exactly to your ability — there is no rushing, no group to keep up with, and no pressure. By the end of a first session, most people are shooting with reasonable consistency and have a solid foundation to build on.
